QUESTIONS

If you have other questions, please email us at outoftheboxtheatre [at] hotmail [dot] com

Q: 90 seconds isn't a lot of time... it's okay if I go over, right?
A: In order to make sure that everyone is seen and given an equal opportunity, your entire audition may not exceed 90 seconds. After you introduce yourself and your pieces, your time will begin. We will have a timer, and you will be notified when your 90 seconds are up and you will be asked to stop. Make sure you practice with a stopwatch.

Q: What is the deadline for registration?
A: We will be accepting registrations through Monday, May 13th, 2013, or when all slots are filled.

Q: Why do I have to send my headshot and resume in PDF format?
A: Other formats such as word documents may unintentionally rearrange your resume formatting when opened on our computers. In order to guarantee your resume is in the format that you want and does not exceed the one page limit, we ask that you send all documents as PDF.

Q: What if I arrive late for my timeslot?
A: If you miss your timeslot, we will move past your name and onto the next person on the list. When you arrive, you may put your name on our waitlist and if possible, we will send you in when a free space appears. In order to avoid missing your appointment, please arrive 15 minutes early to check in with the monitor.

Q: Where does the money from the registration fees go?
A: Registration fees go directly towards covering the costs of the event. This includes printing and distributing binders with all of your information for the casting panel, as well as providing you with contact information sheets to follow-up with the panel and making sure you all have an excellent pianist accompanying you.

LADY DAVENANT or JAILOR

JAILOR or LADY DAVENANT
NELL GWYNNE }played by one female actor, early-to-late-20s

THE STORY
OR, takes place (mostly) during one night in the life of Aphra Behn, poet, spy, and soon to be the first professional female playwright. Sprung from debtors' prison after a disastrous overseas mission, Aphra is desperate to get out of the spy trade. She has a shot at a production at one of only two London companies, if she can only finish her play by morning despite interruptions from sudden new love, actress Nell Gwynne; complicated royal love, King Charles II; and very dodgy ex-love, double-agent William Scott—who may be in on a plot to murder the king in the morning. Can Aphra resist Nell's charms, save Charles' life, win William a pardon, and launch her career, all in one night? Against a background of a long drawn-out war and a counter-culture of free love, cross-dressing, and pastoral lyricism, the 1660s look a lot like the 1960s in this neo-Restoration comedy from the playwright The San Francisco Bay Guardian called "an artist of playful and highly literate imagination, radical instincts, and sardonic but generous humor."

Email elementstheatrecollective@gmail.com to schedule an audition time.
All actors will receive a $200 stipend.
